The 2019 Volkswagen Atlas and the Pilot are very comparable when it pertains to engine performance. The Atlas has a 3.6L V6 engine producing 276 horse power, while the Pilot has a 3.5L V6 with 280hp. The difference is that the Pilot only offers the V6 while the new Volkswagen Atlas has a 2.0L Turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that can generate approximately 235 horsepower while getting better Miles Per Gallon than the V6. The Atlas comes standard with an 8-speed automatic with Tiptronic and Sport mode. The Pilot has a 6-speed auto as the standard equipment while a 9-speed auto with Shift-By-Wire is optional.
